Newton System 503

Above and Below Ground Membrane

This strong, durable cavity drain membrane has a stud profile of only 3mm and can be used as a floor or wall membrane in new build and refurbishment projects. Newton 503 provides an effective and reliable barrier against water (when used in conjunction with appropriate drainage mediums). Newton 503 allows fast reinstatement of new slab floors, particularly where finishes may be moisture sensitive – for example timber flooring.

This 3mm membrane is primarily used in damp and water proofing projects where space is an issue. The smaller stud height and ability to fix to the wall and floor make this membrane a user friendly and fully comprehensible choice.

Reliability

Newton 503 provides a reliable, long-term solution compared with other types of damp-proofing and waterproofing treatment. The conventional use of heavy gauge polythene actually generates moisture by causing sweating. Polythene also has a limited life span. Newton 503 is guaranteed against deterioration for 30 years, with a life expectancy of at least 50 years (DIN 9001:2000). Newton 503 is highly versatile, and has many other applications. These include being used in conjunction with Newton 500 products to provide a complete waterproofing solution fully compliant with BS8102. The membrane can also be used in conjunction with thermal insulation, sound insulation and most types of underfloor heating.

Finishing

Newton 503 can be used with all types of flooring materials, including closed-cell insulation such as the Kingspan Styrozone range, particle board and laminated or solid wood flooring.

The 503 membrane is also available with a mesh thermally welded to the front face to provide a key for plastering/rendering direct for application of dab fix plaster board finish (Newton 503 Mesh).
